I have come to finally outgrow my current location(free rent). I
occupied about 800 square feet with three cnc machines, bridgeport,
bandsaw etc... One room of my house is all office/packaging with a
storage building outside for additional part finishing.

I am looking to build a 50'x100'x14' metal building and put everything
under one roof. I have weighed and compared the costs and differences
of wood frame verses steel building. A metal building is going to
cost a little more at first, but the extra overhead room will be worth
it. Not to mention not having to worry about it burning down near as
quickly.

I am going to insulate so this space can be heated or cooled 24/7.
The front 1/3 of the building is to be office and showroom. These
areas will need to maintain a comfortable temperature at all times.
Summer time here in Arkansas is 100 degrees and sometimes miserably
humid. Winters are usally much nicer, but not when you walk into a
cold shop first thing in the morning. I currently have window air and
a couple of electric radiator heaters and I will continue to be
comfortable in my new location. I may be looking at a 3 phase air
conditioner/heat pump for energy savings. I notice lots of places use
natural gas, but that is not available to me. As far as I know 3"
insulation is standard? Up to 6" is available. I have been told that
with 6" insulation the metal may tend to buckle when assemblying the
building. Don't want that. What kind of heating/cooling costs can a
person expect every month with 3" insulation? Some buildings have
blown insulation which provides better and thicker coverage. Blown
insulation covers everything in site as I prefer to look at the nice
conduit and I-beams. Any particular type of heat/air units
recommended? Stay away from? What to do... What not to do....

Me, I would have sent him to Google-groups with a couple of search keys
and the RCM handle. Like you said: it "was just covered in some
detail".
