OT-Oscilloscope/generator update
Reading all the responses to my questions about measuring the AC
generator convinced me to use a step down xmfr. So I plugged in a 120 to 9 volt xmfr and measured that. When plugged into the wall the 'scope showed 60Hz. This was determined by setting the 'scope to 2 mS per division. The wave measured just slightly over 8 divisions peak to peak. And 60 Hz is just over 16 mS. The generator frequency showed 11 divisions peak to peak. At 2 mS per div. that's 22 mS, or about 45 Hz. The waveform also had a bunch of little waves riding on the main sine wave. So the wave looked like it was made from a rippled string. Anyway, that's it for now on the generator measurements. Anything further I will post on the basic electronics newsgroup. ERS |
