Given that the top
10% of taxpayers pay over 50% of the tax revenues generated..it would
appear to be equitable to me that they should keep just a smidge more
of their money

I had heard something more on the line of five percent pay more than eighty
percent. I could be wrong, and it would be interesting to hear the actual
numbers.

But, one thing. The average person can take advantage of a lot of things
that the rich do in the way of tax savings. That means how much money you
have in YOUR pockets at the end of the year versus the government. A lot of
them are free. Your local library has books like "101 Ways To Save On Your
Taxes" and such. Not programs that will cost a lot to put into place, and a
lot of them are free.

A friend of mine didn't know he could deduct the interest on his motorhome
because it is a second residence. He was even driving it to temporary job
sites and staying in it. When I told him that he could deduct all the
interest for the year, the gas, depreciation, so much per mile, etc, he was
flabbergasted and angry.

"Why didn't someone tell me about this?"

Well, he's the kind of guy who knows everything, sees a Republican behind
every rock, won't take the time to investigate matters, won't pay $50 for
someone who knows to tell him some insights........... you know the type.

Point is, lots and lots of taxpayers can be paying less if they just check
it out. The rich do it, and it's smart business no matter what your income
level.
