Metric Set Screws...

Have looked and called hi and low...
Need a half dozen ___GOOD___ M12 x 1.5 allen set screws (about 10-15 mm
long)for HF end mill tooling.
I've lost 2 end mills and adapters cuz the in house set screws that came
with the original adapter "flowered" on me upon trying to remove them.

I've often read to change out all far-east fasteners and I'm now in the
process. Can't find them locally or anywhere else in the southwest.
ANYBODY?

Depends which country and which continent you're in!

If you are here in Britain, Stig Fasteners is a good supplier of all
stainless steel bolts, capscrews, setscrews etc. No minimum quantity, and
fast service with good prices. email to or url

Metric is tuff to find in this size, here, if at all...

McMaster-Carr, #99642A229. M12 x 1.5, 12mm. Pkg of 5 is $8.45!! Plus
shipping. Bolt Depot has M12x1.75 stainless for $.44 each. That .25mm
makes a big difference.

Yes, you won't have to worry about them backing out unexpectedly --
particularly in stainless.

hardware. Have you considered MSC? That is where I buy mine -- usually
in a box of 100 at a time -- for less than Home Depot would ask for four
or five of poorer quality.

And if you don't know about MSC, you should learn. It is an
excellent source for all kinds of things which hobbist machinists would
want to purchase. And all it takes is one phone call (to register), and
you start receiving a hardcovered 4000+ page catalog each year.

And -- they will happily deal with small purchasers -- you don't
have to be a big high-volume company to buy from them.

Also -- at least here, I phone in before the evening cut-off
time and it will be at my door about 3:00 PM the next day. (I'm just a
bit west of Washington DC, and the closest warehouse is in Harrisburg
PA.
