Alpine Bearing-JC-Graziano lathe bearings
 

JC from Alpine bearing just called me..the gentleman who was looking
for the bearings for the Graziano lathe (?) gave him an email addy
that doesnt work and he was unable to forward on the pricing.

The bearings are as follows.

(1) 110055/110100 $372.50
(1) 130069x/130120h $850

He can get them significantly less expensive, but the cheaper ones
will not be available until September, for some reason.

Bearings are Gamet, and will be imported from Europe.

Ive also asked him if an equivelent set of angular contact bearings
are available for replacement, and he indicated most likely, but he
would need the dimensions. They would be far far less expensive than
the hollow tapered roller bearings.

Makes the lathe lighter. Hard core folks fill the hollow
in the bearing with helium.

Thanks, Gunner. That was no gentleman, that was me! g

I gave him the right addy, but he could have gotten it confused. It's easy
enough to do.

You were right, his price is better, although still not a bargain.

Considering the proper bearing is rated @ 6,900 RPM, and the spindle of the
Graziano is restricted to 2,000 RPM, I can't see that the hollow bearing
would be a necessity. Could be angular bearings would serve just as well.
To be very honest, I hadn't considered that.

I'll get back to him, and perhaps wait until the more reasonably priced
bearings are available. I'm in no hurry.

Even better is a hard vacuum. Plus sound
doesn't travel in a vacuum and the lathe
runs quieter.
