Not SF, but Valley Tool in San Jose and Western Tool is in San Leandro
(I think). Been away from the gray bay for a time.

I have been looking for the same thing with little luck. I do plan a trip
to check out Scott Machinery near Sacramento as they carry quite a few new
and used machine tools. I ran into them at an antique tractor show
recently. www.scottmachinery.com.

Good luck!

[Actually Western Tool moved out (of Oakland, near San Leandro) due to
freeway expansion claiming their building. They're in Livermore now:

Some of us locals consider Scott Machinery to be the best place to find THE
ABSOLUTE HIGHEST price on any machine tool.

I have visited many stores in San Jose, San Carlos, Fremont, the South Bay
and East Bay areas over the years. I always check the local yellow pages for
machinery dealers when visiting the area and there are (were) lots of them
to be found.

Is that guy still over there in Santa Cruz? Rowe Machinery? His Web page
still works .. http://www.rowe-machinery.com

I've bought a coupla things from him. He's a good guy, too.

Did not know they closed that store. Have been sending cheques to
Livermore for quite some time, however.

I was trying to remember that one. Also, Tool Technology is in either
Fremont or Milpitas.

Don't know about machines themselves, but all the other stuff... (cutters,
etc., etc.):

Western Tool has a branch in San Jose. They are real professionals and very
nice people to deal with. And Advanced Tool is just a couple blocks further
up the street. Also well up on my "good guy" list.

Used stuff... Triangle in San Jose has an interesting and ever-changing
collection. And Rowe Machine in Santa Cruz has a lot of stuff, including an
occasional machine, but they tend to specialize in measurement equipment.
And it's worth the trip over just to meet Bob Rowe. He's the sort of
businessman who regards his customers as personal friends and vice versa.

Is there anything in particular you're looking for?

KBC Tools & Machinery has a branch in Hayward:

1751 Sabre
Hayward, CA 94546

I've never been to their store, but I've ordered from them over the phone.
Their service was very good, as are some of their sale prices.

Second that. Their current sale flyer has a nice set of Silver & Deming,
33/64-1" by 64ths, for a 2-digit number. That's 32 big drills for about
2-3 bucks apiece, brand new in a matched set. After the big MSC sale on
CBN wheels I missed, KBC had the next-best price on a CBN wheel that mounts
on a Baldor "carbide grinder", too. - GWE
