replace window
Hi, I have question on replacing 20+ yrs aluminum windows at our home. I am
replacing them with Pella brand replacement vinyl windows. The old window frames were narrower (33in) outside than inside ( wall-to-wall 34 3/4 in). The rough opening (stud-to-stud) was 35 3/4 in wide. So far I managed to replace 6 in the rear. The rear of the house has wood siding. It went smoother than I initially thought. I was able to pop the outside molding, remove the nails for the fins and take the old window out. I then framed the new window and trimmed the outside molding to fit the new size. There was hardly any damage to the inside dry walls. I would like your opinion how to go about replacing the window on the front of the house. The front has brick siding which I dare not disturb. What is the correct measurement of these windows. Since it is flush with the outside brick work, should I order for rough opening of 33in? But this will also leave a gap on the inside. What is the best way to patch that ? thanks for your time A b r a h a m a_g_2025 (remove underscores from email id) at hotmail dot com |
