birdie umbilical cords
Did you know that baby birds have umbilical cords?
I guess that means they have belly buttons under their feathers! I was watching a video about a parakeet who couldn't get himself separated from his eggshell because of the cord, and the guy making the video cut up the shell and then snipped the cord. I wonder if this wouldn't have resolved itself without him in a day or so? But these is about kiwis. About the size of a chicken, they lay a 5" egg! Show your wife the x-ray in the first one and tell her she got off easy. https://www.kiwisforkiwi.org/about-k...ducing-an-egg/ https://www.kiwisforkiwi.org/about-k.../enormous-egg/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfIhjiZlYMk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4NU4WClh1c https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...=kiwi+lay+eggs They also have their nostrils at the end of their beaks, unlike other birds whose nostrils are at the base! |
