Quite often, the director and the editor sit side-by-side in the editing room,
collaborating on how the film will be cut.

Anything that delays the transmission of a Clarkson programme can only be
good.

Clarkson is a very logical person and love by many.

By editing, they likely mean post production. Journos do need to keep
things simple for those who want to read about Clarkson.

While the actual edit may be a one person process on a computer, the
results have to be approved by likely several people. And changes made
after their views known. In better times, this would be done with everyone
present. Having to send it to them, and wait for individual replies, slows
everything down. Same with the sound dub.

They don't have to cuddle. I'm sure they have seperate desks and telephones and video conferencing.

When more that one person is in the editing suite deciding
what editing is done with the original footage. Almost none
is done by just one person acting alone. Look at the credits.

It's something I do have experience of. If you're not physically with the
person or people doing the review of the edit, etc, time will be wasted.

Why? You can see and hear them remotely using technology. they could be in the next room doing that, so you can physically hand things over too.

Anything that delays the transmission of a Clarkson programme can only
be
good.

Clarkson is a very logical person and love by many.

By editing, they likely mean post production. Journos do need to keep
things simple for those who want to read about Clarkson.

While the actual edit may be a one person process on a computer, the
results have to be approved by likely several people. And changes made
after their views known. In better times, this would be done with
everyone
present. Having to send it to them, and wait for individual replies,
slows
everything down. Same with the sound dub.

They don't have to cuddle. I'm sure they have seperate desks

I'm sure the production company can afford masks.

Masks don't help a lot with with aerosols.

and telephones and video conferencing.

But that approach delays the final result as they said.

Birdbrain: "But imagine how cool it was to own slaves."

Senile Rodent: "Yeah, right. Feed them, clothe them, and fix them when
they're broken.
After all, you paid good money for them. Then you've got to keep an eye
on them all the time."

Birdbrain: "Better than having to give them wages on top of that."

Senile Rodent: "Specially when they make more slaves for you
and produce their own food and clothes."
