Biden seeks to rebuild government by "recalling veteran officials... who were driven away"

Now Thomas-Greenfield is back, leading President-elect Joe Biden’s State
Department transition team to restore the department’s devastated
morale.

That is expected to include an ambitious campaign to rebuild the
department’s ranks by recalling veteran officials like herself who were
driven away** and refilling many of the approximately 1,500 foreign
service and civil servant jobs lost under Trump, as well as vacant
ambassadorial positions.

**[This is just what I said here that I wanted him to do. (Now, she
herself is nominated for UN ambassador, but others will have the
rebuilding job.)]

Biden’s ability to fulfill his promise to restore “normalcy” in the U.S.
government will rely heavily on whether he can revitalize key agencies,
starting with State and including the Environment Protection Agency,
Education Department and Labor Department.....

Yeah our foreign policy was so much better when it was guided by a 30
year long un winnable wars.
Who knows, with any luck Biden can get the votes to invade Iran.
Maybe we can even get the cold war going with Russia again.
Sometimes looking back is not the best way to run a government.

How many troops did Trump actually bring home, as opposed to
simply shuffling them around overseas?

I googled for it, but the DoD stopped reporting deployments in
Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria in 2017, so it's a little difficult to tell.

No idea but if you're a troop getting shuffled from Afghanistan to
Germany isn't a bad thing. The Germans haven't been shooting at
Americans for a long time.

Maybe Biden will tell us when he decides we need more.
The shuffling was in Europe and I am glad you finally admitted he
didn't "weaken NATO" by moving troops from Germany to Poland but he
did weaken Putin a bit, bringing NATO a couple hundred miles closer to
his border.
