Why not to build on a hill

I guess some people don't know how to engineer structures on a hill.
But an auto jack can help.

They need some Mayan engineers.

And someone who cares about their work.

They may not have had fancy equipment but they sure were good engineers.

The could've at least used a screw jack instead of the floor jack.
And maybe thrown a couple shingles under the jack legs.

We rented this cabin in South Dakota

I was walking around looking and I saw the pilings were just sitting
on rocks. One good kick would have brought the place down.

When the bed collapsed in the middle of the night true I thought we
were heading to the creek.

Nope just proper piles that go down to bedrock
and steel instead of wood structure for the deck.
