Default Shortages at the stores

Today I went to Walmart to buy some liquid decongestant.

They were sold out out account of the corona virus panic.

Same with other medicines and toilet paper.

I wish more people would calm down and think logically.

I wish I had bought stock with companies who sell toilet paper. :-)

I am really enjoying the cheap gas prices.

It's happening here now with some items too. Supermarkets and Walmart
are out of TP, wipes, spray disinfectant. But plenty of food of just
about all kinds, including some that you'd think could be out, like
canned soups.

Today the stores are crowded with people pushing grocery carts
and in almost every cart is a bulky package of TP. What is that
all about? Do they believe American paper plants going to stop
producing TP?

Stores are crowded. My favorite pharmacy, Total Wine, was well stocked.

I suppose many are seeing how China quarantined cities and towns,
how Italy has the whole country locked down and they are figuring
that's coming here. Trump couldn't handle testing, what makes you
think he's qualified to handle toilet paper?

Socialist countries often have soup lines.

Maybe this is preparing us for socialist Bernie Biden's toilet paper rationing program?

I was in Wal-Mart yesterday, this one was out of toilet paper in the
usual section, but they hadn't gotten to the RV department yet. I don't
use much of the stuff, having a toilet-seat bidet.

Gas is $2 here. Maybe that $79 fillup will stay just a memory (from
about 2007).

Both our local Wally Worlds are totally cleaned out of TP.

Interesting, for those that think they may be quarantined
for a month, both Wally Worlds have tons of Spam on
their shelves.

I noticed one of the few things Walmart was out of here was Chef Boyardee
canned Italian crap. Why anyone would buy that when there is lots of dry
pasta and sauces, IDK. I just heard some Costco in LA have a 2.5 hour
checkout line. You'd figure that with a line like that, you probably
can't get much of what you want anyway. But you do expose yourself to
a crowd for 2.5 hours.

Ooooo! That's brutal!

But true. Read the article that mikey posted about the Philadelphia
parade.

After his initial failure to prevent the epidemic from exploding, Wilmer
Krusen had attempted to address the crisis, largely in vain. He asked
the U.S. army to stop drafting local doctors, appropriated funds to hire
more medical workers, mobilized the sanitation department to clean the
city, and perhaps most important, clear bodies from the street. It was
too little too late. On a single October day, 759 people died in the
city and more than 12,000 Philadelphians would die in a matter of weeks.

Important line:
But it will also be a good moment to remember the damaging costs of
shortsighted medical decisions shaped by politics during a pandemic that
was more deadly than war.

Costco was pretty normal here the other day. It was actually better
because without the people on every end cap grazing the free food,
people were actually moving right along. They were out of TP and
sanitizers of all types but I didn't notice anything else in short
supply.

Don't be so sure.

They will over produce and then the prices will drop
as everyone uses their stash instead of buying new.

I wonder if the hoarders will actually use up all
their "recycled" toilet paper. They can always use
it a emery cloth. Take the paint off of ...

Shoprite here, the biggest supermarket, Sunday morning 6:15 AM was
moderately busy. They open at 6, I don't think you'd see many people
in there at that hour prior to this. No fresh meat, no TP, just a few huge
$17 paper towel bundles, no sanitizing anything, dry pasta mostly
gone. Rest of the store was pretty much OK.

Some supermarkets here just announced they are limiting the number of
people allowed in at one time, that's a good idea.
