Federal standards are for food contact. There are other organizations like the Consumer Products Testing Labs and NSF for drinking water contact: https://www.nsf.org/newsroom_pdf/wat...fact_sheet.pdf Most local agencies find this acceptable for their local use. As for any material there are acceptable levels of contaminates. Now that we can measure down in parts per trillion that does not mean that only one ppt of practically everything can cause cancer. |
