That's not correct, it can be below 2, like 1.5 etc.

The term exponential actually refers to the slope,
not the percentage change. And when the world
fertility rate has HALVED between 1960 and 2015
its silly and ignorant to claim that the world
population is still increasing exponentially.

and the population is not "squaring" any time soon
(going to 36 billion) although it is increasing at an
alarming rate. That is the real cause of global warming

Man has simply done too good a job of controlling hunger,

It has in fact done one hell of a job controlling hunger.
Famine used to be endemic and is now only seen when
the country has completely imploded into social chaos
and civil war..

It has also done one hell of a job controlling infectious
disease too and even something like ebola now only
produces a small blip in a particular area and has no
real effect on population anymore, unlike we saw
with influenza just after WW1 had ended.

and nuclear weapons.

Its done a hell of a job controlling nuclear weapons too.
NOT ONE has been used in warfare since the first two.

It will be a self correcting problem tho.

Yes, the increasing population certainly has been that with
the world fertility rate HALVING between 1960 and 2015
with only China actually taking explicit steps to change that.
