Typical Trump and trumpet revisionist history. Everyone with any connected
brain cells knows that if Schumer was offered everything he wanted, Schumer
would say YES. Schumer knows what he wants, he'd take the clean DACA
bill that Pelosi asked Trump if he would sign. Trump said yes, but the
reality is Trump is 100 miles away from that position now. And all that's
happened is they've kicked the can on DACA and the budget down the road
for two weeks, in exchange for McConnell agreeing to bring DACA up before
then. Pelosi, Schumer, that bipartisan group all know what they want.
It's the child like Trump that can't or won't make up his mind. And
then the alleged great negotiator poisons the well some more today,
declaring that he won, the Democrats caved. A wise negotiator would never
do that, for obvious reasons. But Trump is mental and actually a terrible
negotiator.

I don't know that he is all that horrible a negotiator. He got Schumer
to end the shutdown without giving away anything.
He worked his end of the street by blunting the effect of the shutdown
as much as he could (letting the parks open and sending the NFL
playoffs to the troops among other things). Then he did a great job of
dumping the rest on Schumer.
Now let's see what McConnell's and Ryan's word is worth. If they can
get a clean immigration bill out in the next few weeks that satisfies
the DACA people and also does something about chain migration and the
silly wall, we should be able to move on. Who wants to bet on which
party obstructs that?

They just kicked the can down the road on both DACA and the budget
for two weeks. That's all. And Schumer got a guarantee from McConnell
that he would bring DACA to the Senate within that time. No DACA
deal, then we're going to be right back where we were. And how smart
is it for the great negotiator to be bragging that he won, the Democrats
caved, when nothing was resolved and he needs them?

Trump will not sign a clean DACA bill, nor would a clean DACA bill pass
either house. IT's DOA. The only one that said he would sign a clean
DACA bill is Trump, when Pelosi asked him. That lasted for a minute,
before Kevin McCarthy intervened and saved the great negotiator from
himself.

The proposal that Trump ********d ended chain migration for DACA and
provided funding for the wall and increased security. We did move on.
Trump ********d it. And Dove and I and Congress are still waiting for
a link to what it is that Trump actually will sign.

Six years of funding for CHIP was pretty sweet too.

thing he wants.

Let's cut to the chase and go back to the Immigration Act of 1924.
