Magic Chef Oven & Broiler electric issue
 

Hello,

I have a double oven & broiler oven for the last 20 years (Never a problem) but last night we had a storm and the lights went out for a few mins, everything came back on but my oven, the display, inside lights bulbs do not lit up and I cannot turn the gas on.

Any idea on what is going on?

Let me think about this one. The power went out briefly and you can't
turn on the gas.

The clock is digital but to turn the gas and the lights inside the oven are manual, the lights (has a press button) the Gas (has a knob to increase or decrease the gas)

Could have been a power surge. Don't just look at the breaker, turn it
off and then back on. Sometimes it will look OK but be internally
tripped.

If the breaker is ok and you still have no response, it is possible the
controller is cooked.

You may just simply have to cycle the electrical power to the oven. If there is a plug, unplug it then plug it back in after 10 seconds or so. If there is a circuit breaker feeding power to the oven, turn it off for a 10 count then turn it back on. Power hiccups can really screw up digital electronic/microprocessor controlled appliances. ヽ(ヅ)ノ

You may be thinking of the microcontroller having to reload the program from the EPROM. I programmed a lot of early digital equipment by flipping switches to input ones and zeros and I don't mean the WWII Jap fighter planes. At home I have UPS units all over the house on computer equipment, even desk lamps in case of a power outage but sometimes a power burp will cause the microwave oven to lose its mind and I have to unplug it then plug it back in. ヽ(ヅ)ノ

Ya turn the dang power off? Let the next read of the EPROM readin'
take place? The EPROM is there for a reason. "You libs" missed when I

Ya turn the dang power off? Let the next read of the EPROM readin'
take place? The EPROM is there for a reason. "You libs" missed when I
said temporary.

Eprom functions by trapping charge in cells. Yes, it's there for
a reason, for permanent storage of programs, parameters, and data.
There is no way possible
that I know of to corrupt it and have it return to normal. Once
the data there is corrupted, it's gone. Static RAM, dynamic RAM,
sequential state machines, you could get those into a corrupted
state and recover by replacing what was stored in memory, resetting
the SS machine. Funny how everything is now about "libs", that
anytime anyone questions anything and you disagree, it's suddenly
because they are a lib. Are you now a true trumptard?

Probably a simplification. The EPROM can not get corrupted and the
device still work with a power off and on. It is possiable the
processor started reading the eprom in the wrong place on a short power
outage or somehow the program already in ram got messed up.

Probably more correct to say the program got corrupted and by cutting
the power off long enough for the device to get to a total power off
state and start all over again the device will be ok.

+1 I've had a power glitch shut down my Samsung fridge, which then
required a microsoft-type power down wait 10 seconds and then power up.
I don't know why these people put out products like this. They are
connected to a dirty power line and should be able to deal with it!

I turn the main fuse off for several minutes and nothing... I still have no power to the digital clock display, nor to the light bulb, not even to lit up the sensor for the gas, the whole seams dead but I did notice while touching some of the cables that go to the Stove Oven Safety Valve, by mistake the screw driver touch one of the cable to the ground and the fuse went out/off. I guess there is some electricity going in?
