drianage water wiping out soil

Our back yard slopes down drain water and is along the "drain line" of the
corn field it once was. We reclaimed the land and facilitated drainage with
underground water pipes (2 ft diameter). Even so- during serious rains-
there is water running over the surface and is washing off the lawn. I have
tried to distribute the water by locating a flower bed in the 'path'. It
helped - but not quite a lot.
Any suggestions?

There's always one!

I just have to comment here. :-

Meet Dave. : HVACFella, DaveinIllinois, HowdyBud, NicetoMeetYou, and loads
of other inane handles which he trolls under; sometimes even going as far as
having a conversation with himself and agreeing with himself, since nobody
else will.

This idiot is the scourge of Usenet. : 9 times out of 10 his advice is
dangerous, other than that it's usually just plain dense; unless he's
cutting and pasting from a website or someone else's previous post. He's
recently made himself look a total idiot in alt.hvac, among other groups
such as alt.dating.uk.south-east

He's into kiddies and seeks to cover his massive sexually perverted fixation
by using his religion as a crutch, in the belief that his sins are forgiven
before they are even committed; therefore any sort of evil is okay for dave
to practice; despite his hypocritical trollings and religious condemnation
and insults directed at others for simply wanting a sex life. The troll is
almost unbelievably grotesque in nature as well as thick and uneducated.

Any farm boy can tell you that you need terraces. And your 2' drain pipes are
real monsters, which leads to serious doubts about the competence of the
engineering people who developed the site plan. You might want to consider
getting better qualified talent to plan for long term surface water control.
