Cement Board vs Sheet Rock for areas prone to water

I know you are supposed to use cement board in a shower or tub area.

What about other areas that are prone to water from inside or from outside.

Is cement board much more expensive or much more difficult to install?

What about the appearance? Will it look like sheet rock after painting?

Any other possible reasons not to use cement board as belts and suspenders?

thanks

If you get flooding you want to removed the covering and dry the studs.
On outside walls you have soggy insulation too. Sheetrock is better.

Cement board is harder to work with, cover seams, etc. Not a practical
solution.

Inside use Schluter systems in a shower or tub, not cement board; if you
want a good job.

Outside - drains are mandatory, prevent the water from getting into the
structure.
