China bans Brazilian beef, urges harsh sanctions to those involved in
scandal

China urged Brazil to hand out harsh punishments to those involved in a tainted meat scandal on Thursday, and offered no time frame for lifting a ban on imports from the South American country.

In its first official comment, China's Commerce Ministry confirmed it had suspended all shipments from Brazil, the world's top beef exporter, and said it was extremely concerned with quality issues in the country's meat industry.

"China has promptly adopted temporary measures and suspended Brazilian meat imports," spokesman Sun Jiwen told reporters at a regular briefing in Beijing.

Some of China's largest food suppliers have pulled Brazilian beef and poultry from their shelves, while countries including Japan and Canada have also banned imports from Brazil after inspectors there were accused of taking bribes to allow sales of tainted food.

Brazil is the top supplier of beef to China, accounting for about 31 percent of its imports in the first half of last year. Much of it is used in canteens and foodservice.Sun said China expected Brazil to investigate the issues thoroughly and adopt effective measures to ensure the safety of its meat.

"China hopes the Brazilian government will punish firms and individuals that broke the rules harshly," he added, calling for more cooperation between the two countries to ensure Brazlian meat imports are safe.

"We hope responsible departments in both countries can further collaborate to prevent and deal with possible issues in the meat trade," Sun said.

The US is one of our biggest customers, but also the guys that
require the biggest bribes to get it past inspection. It ends up in
all those nice burgers American love.

You still import our soy, which is loaded with illegal
pesticides, and our peanuts, an aflatoxin gourmet's dream.
But keep quiet about it. It's still a secret. You'll crash the
market or something if it gets out.

For someone as paranoid as you seem to be, you sure like drawing
attention to yourself from the TLA agencies in D.C.

The results came in. The meat WAS rotten. They even added
ascorbic acid AKA vitamin C (an antioxidant) to mask the smell. And
the groups involved DID pay bribes to get the meat passed. Read the
newspapers.

http://www.gfi.org/meatpacking-scandal-in-brazil

The bribes were paid to the local inspectors AND the foreign
ones too... otherwise the meat would have never been accepted.
As to the soy and peanuts, we avoid the fields where they are
planted, the stench of pesticides is so strong.
Sht, they were using Aldrin on the seeds a while ago, imported
illegally from Paraguay. Killed hundreds of thousands of doves and
ducks.
In 2013 the soy planters were lobbying for Brasil to build
factories to produce illegal fungicides:

(You'll have to stick that in a Glugle translate)

But the social democratic government did not comply. That's
changed, of course, after the coup. The government agency ANVISA is
run by the planters now.

WOW, I love a subtle threat.

When you hear about someone doing a "police suicide", what does that
make you think about?

Not bribing them enough ?

We don't add ascorbic acid to that because it occurs naturally
in the juice. We use sulfites.
Bottoms up
