threads won't stop in right place
 
I replaced the faucet on my water cooler. Everything is plastic. When
screwing it in, it tightens securely at 6 o'clock instead of 12.
Starting in a different place doesn't help. Will layers of teflon tape
be the way to go?

Yes, adding tape may save the day.
