Bose AM/FM CG Player
 

When watering a hanging plant a few years back a wee bit of water dripped onto the top of my Bose. The remote control works correctly, but since the water spill any channel of the AM/FM will only give static response. Is there possibility this mat be repaired, or is the system a total loss?

Anything can be repaired, the question is how much you are willing to
spend/do in order to repair it.

Have you since removed the hanging basket or removed the player away
from the dripping water? I'd start there.

This little unit was rather expensive. Yes, when the water drips happened I immediately unplugged the unit and turned it over to allow possibility for water drainage. Both the digital clock and remote work perfectly so it seems that just the speaker/s were damaged.

That's poor logic. The speakers work, it's the radio that doesn't.

I'd start with the RF section, then check the IF

Anything can be repaired, the question is how much you are willing to

spend/do in order to repair it.

I'd start by finding out what the minimum charge is to get it
diagnosed and a guestimate on what it might cost to repair.
And then I'd look at Ebay and find out what used ones
that work are selling for. Buying a used one might be a better
option.

I assume this has a CD player too? Does that part work? If it does, then
it sounds like it's probably whatever board the RF stuff is on that needs to be
replaced. That might be the whole board that everythings on, but who knows..
You could ask a repair shop what the cost of replacing the tuner/rf is.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's a lot. A friend of mine bought one of the
flat top stoves for a rental property he has. Within a month it had a
chip the size of a quarter and corresponding 6" crack. He had already
refunded the deposit before he realized it. The stove only cost $350.
I looked up the cost of the new top, and it's a whole unit, elements
are part of it. The cost was like $275. If you had to call a repair
company to fix that, clearly not worth it. Most of those repair parts
are jacked way up, because they can :)

computer. Warned several times. Total count 3 monitors, 2 computers and 1
printer which led to a h/d recovery that yielded NOTHING of value. Got her
new furniture. wonder why school taxes so high? Meanwhile I had to scramble
to get her up & running and instantaneous attention was not acceptable.

As an acting CSM (IT manager) I had a limited budget. I made the
Dept. Head get off the money. I can help you but you get to pay for
your department. Some folks could not function unless I turned on the
monitor. These were government employees, to boot :)

I had already spent the budget to build the network of 70 nodes and
supervise the rollout. Never again!

Hardly commonplace. I think most cable companies supply very good
connection cables so they don't have call backs because of a failed
cable. My cable company Bright House supplies some really good
connection cables. I also have a Comcast account and they supplied
really good connection cables. A friend of mine has CenturyLink and they
also supplied good cables.

I haven't seen one recommendation/alternative (with the same features)

Yes, and sometimes the cables may be more useful to me than the box they
are attached to.

I've found four set top boxes that included 320gig hard drives. A 60gig
iPod that I think needs a new battery, endless DVD players are now
appearing, but I got my blu-ray player last year by finding it on the
sidewalk (just needed the blu-ray lens inside to be cleaned, before that
it didnt' recognize blu-ray disks). Endless DSL modems are appearing now,
not that I have any use for those. I'm not seeing much in the way of
comptuers these days.
