If you have cancer, see your travel agent paraphrased This whole ACA thing is a farce being perpetrated on the people. Investor's Business Daily had something to say about British Healthcare. But my favorite part of the editorial deals with the British health-care system, which if you believe IBD is basically condemning the old and disabled to die. "People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless," the editorial claims. Of course, that same Stephen Hawking who wouldn't have a chance in the United Kingdom was in fact born in the United Kingdom, has lived his entire life in the United Kingdom and lives there still today, at the ripe old age of 67. (He was in fact hospitalized earlier this month.) Hawking is, you might say, living, breathing proof that these people are first-class fools. Stephen Hawking is a celebrity of sorts and quite famous. Perhaps you saw the story of the "Tree Man" from Indonesia who became world famous for his bizarre medical condition. The fact that an American doctor decided to help him caused the Indonesian government, which didn't give a **** about the fellow until he came to the attention of the world, the impetus to spare no expense for the poor villager's medical care . It would be the same sort of thing for Stephen Hawking. If the British government let him languish and die, the whole world would be howling about it. If some poor bloke like me, who is unimportant, was allowed to die because he was considered obsolete, no one except his dog would care. It's simply how the cruel world works. ^_^ TDD |

Their lives and opinions are no more valid than yours and mine. -- Tekkie |
