OT - Seriously misleading ad

A recent ad for Sylvania auto headlight bulbs showed their product "a"
is 30% brighter*, "b" is 35% brighter, and "c" is 50% brighter*. When
you look at the fine print for * you find the statement "comparisons
made with Sylvania products at 100% light output and standard halogen
bulbs at 80% light output."
Well duh!! Can't say it was false advertizing since they admitted the
flawed test, but unless you read the fine print it sure was
misleading.

Even worse, if you read the fine print you'll find that those
high output bulbs last a fraction of the time of a regular
halogen headlamp, despite costing a lot more. And they pull
substantially more
current, which older cars may not be equipped to handle.
In short, I concluded that they just aren't worth it.

Palmolive dish soap:

30% more than the leading 19 ounce brand. (24 oz)

How about just saying 50% more than the leading 12 ounce brand?

If you don't think about it, they are trying to convince you that you
are getting 30% more for free.

You may be, if the price of both are the same.

Completely different theorem, but nevertheless true.

Because 24oz is 100% more than 12oz.
