trash about the "king." The liberal press deliberately ignores the fact

Mebbe you should hyphenate "liberal press", since the words are always
used together....I wish that there was something about Michael and the
rest of the Jacksons that has been ignored. I can't imagine anything
about MJ that has been ignored, including anatomical variations of a
personal nature.

that MJ was a pervert. Lisa testified to his unnatural "love" of children.
They conveniently ignored it, just like they deliberately refused to report
on the trash heap holing our Messiah up. Take a look at Walmart checkout
lanes. Magazines glorifying MJ and nothing about McMann. MJ had some good
songs and was very talented, but contributed nothing worthwhile to society.
He was an abused and abusing self-centered jerk who hated his heritage.

Media is much more youth oriented than even 10 years ago. McMann, in
that regard, is really ancient history. 45 years (already!) since JFK
was assassinated, and that was vastly more important to me than to my
kids and grandkids. Moon landing? Ancient history. Polio vaccine?
Even more ancient history. There was nothing very special about McMann,
compared to his generation....or did I miss something?

They outta have an event like that for Billy Mays. Few hours of him

much the tickets would be?!

But if you bought one in the next 30 minutes, they'd send a second
free.

what's funny is that I see the same products in local stores, and they
include the "2nd one free",and you don't pay outrageous shipping and
handling charges. I saw one product today that wanted $16.95 S&H.

SOmebody fill me in on this...

Seeing a lot of adds lately where there's "2nd one free". You only pay
SEPARATE s&h. They're reeeeally chaging suckers these high shipping
charges twice!

I don't know how people get roped into this. I mean when you order
anything you get a total amout you authorize to a card with any Internet
purchase I've made. But then, I've never bought anything from a TV or
infomercial ad of any type.

That 2nd shipping charge is stupid.
I'd love to buy the Instyler (hairdo product), but they never explained the
price on TV. Went to their site and found it's over $100 ! what? They
also want to send you 2 of them. Once I found out the price I decided not
to buy it. I'm waiting to see it in Walgreens for cheaper.- Hide quoted text -

At a factory outlet mall I was at a few months ago there was a store
whose entire stock was "as advertized on TV". When you see all that
cheap assed junk concentrated in one store you never pay attention to
any more of their ads.

There was, previously, such an 'As advertised on TV' store in one of
our malls.
The one and only time I went there looking for an item previously seen
on TV they didn't have it and could not advise if it would be
available in future! If I recall? It was a small ingenious plastic
device for measuring while doing carpentry work, or something! I think
we got one on sale afterwards at an auto/mechanical supply store for
$1.99!
Don't go to shopping malls very often and that one, only, maybe, once
or twice a year; dentist's office!
Earlier this year enquired and was told that the 'As advertised .... '
store "Had closed down ages ago"!
Once or twice though have found useful items at a local 'Dollar
Store". And that's one dollar Canadian, the equivalent of about 86
cents US! In particular those pencil sharpeners designed for
sharpening those flat section 'Carpenter's Pencils".

My CVS store has a "As seen on TV" rack. There are only 10 or so products.

What color is the sky on your planet? Ed McMahon's death (your respect for
him apparently doesn't extend to spelling his name right) was all over TV,
including on national news broadcasts, it got heavy newspaper and magazine
coverage as well.

As for Jackson's bizarre lifestyle in general and his sexual perversions in
particular, yeah, for sure not enough media coverage of those was a *big*
problem. [That was sarcasm BTW] I'm sorry if the weekly newsletter in your
trailer park didn't keep you informed (or nauseated, take your pick) on the
subject, but maybe you should get out more. If you're worried about being
deceived by the liberal media, a layer of aluminum foil under your hat is
said to help.

Hasnt this FAR surpassed the bounds of HOME REPAIR ? TAKE a PILL !

It took Ed almost two years to get through all the Navy flight
training. His problem was he was a very good pilot and the Marines
needed flight instructors. He had a great command presence and public
speaking ability, which landed him in the classroom, training new baby
Marine pilots.

In February of 1942, pilot training was increased from 7 to 11 months.
How was McMahon able to hang around two years without being washed out?

Did they send babies into combat while McMahon stayed at Pensacola?

Ed stayed in the USMC as a reserve officer. He became a successful
personality in the new TV medium, after the war. His Marine command
presence helped.

It seemed to me that his TV personality was a boozing clown. Is that
what's meant by "Marine command presence"?

He was recalled to active duty during the Korean
War. He never got to fly his fighter aircraft, but he saw his share
of raw combat. He flew the Cessna O-1E Bird Dog, which is a single
engine slow-moving unarmed plane. He functioned as an artillery
spotter for the Marine batteries on the ground and as a forward
controller for the Navy & Marine fighter / bombers who flew in on fast
moving jet engines, bombed the area and were gone in seconds. Captain
Ed was still circling the enemy looking for more targets, all the time
taking North Korean and Chinese ground fire.

Just a captain after ten years? Is there documentation describing his
missions? I'd expect a spotter plane to be attached to a battery or a
fighter unit but not both, or to serve as a taxi or an ambulance.

A spotter would operate close to friendly territory and could land in a
small space. It could be too high for small arms fire and too
unpredictable for flak. Were the greatest dangers mechanical trouble
and weather?

The world knows Ed as Ed McMahon of the Johnny Carson, Tonight Show.
One night I was watching the show when the subject of Colonel

McMahon earning a number of Navy Air Medals came up. Carson, a former
Navy
officer, understood the significance of these medals, but McMahon
shrugged it off, saying that if you flew enough combat missions they
just sort of gave them to you. McMahon flew 85 combat missions over
North Korea; he earned every one of those Air Medals. The casualty
rate, for flying forward air controllers in Korea sometimes exceeded
50% of a squadron's manpower. McMahon was lucky to have gotten home
from that war.

I doubt Carson ever studied medals. He dropped out of college at a time
when dropouts dreaded the possibility of being among the million
infantry casualties expected in the invasion of Japan. He enlisted in
the Navy and reported for duty on the last day of the war. McMahon said
his medals were routine. Why call him a liar when he's not here to
defend himself?

Were forward air controllers really based in squadrons? Most of the
manpower would be ground personnel.

When the public was spitting (taking their personal safety into their
own hands) at Marines on the streets of SouthernCalifornia during
Vietnam, Colonel McMahon was taking Marines off the streets and into
his posh Beverley Hills home.

I suffered no disrespect from civilians in Southern California.
However, in my barracks at Pendleton was a map showing that most of
Oceanside was off limits to us. Many of our officers lived in those
neighborhoods, but we could be arrested for walking down the street.
I'd call that contempt from the USMC.

My most vivid "spitting" experience came as I watched the Tonight Show
one night during the Reagan administration. Soberly, Carson announced,
"I think it's time for us to forgive the Vietnam veterans. After all,
at the time, they thought what they were doing was right." I'm glad his
sidekick never took me off the streets into his posh Beverly Hills home.

The three core values of a United States Marine are; honor, courage
and commitment. This is what a Marine is taught from the first day

of training and this is what that Marine believes.

Is this a new program? The finest young men I ever knew were among my
fellow Marines, but we were not instructed in honor, courage, or
commitment on our first day of training or any other day.

The man's name was McMahon. If he's such a hero to you, you'd think
you'd at least know his name. His big claim to fame was being Johnny
Carson's sidekick. Wow.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ed McMahon died this week. He was a great entertainer, but prior to
his stage accomplishments he was a distinguished Marine Corps fighter
pilot in WWII earning six Air Medals. He was discharged in 1946 and
volunteered to fly again in the Korean War. He joined the CA Air
National Guard and was later promoted to the rank of Brigadier
General.

Farrah Fawcett died this week after a long career in Hollywood as an
actress. After she was diagnosed with cancer, she became an activist
for cancer treatment and devoted her last remaining years encouraging
people to seek treatment. She documented her plight on film and used
it to encourage others to stay positive and upbeat despite their
diagnosis and suffering.

Karl Malden died this week after a long career in Hollywood as an
actor. He also served in the US Air Force during WWII and also served
on the US Postal Service committee to review and recommend
commemorative stamps. In 2005, the US House of Representatives
authorized the US Postal Service to rename a Los Angeles post office
the Karl Malden Postal Station.

Michael Jackson died this week. He was perhaps one of the greatest
singers of modern time. He will also be remembered for his eccentric
lifestyle that included sleeping with a chimpanzee, living in a
carnival-like atmosphere at Neverland, his fascination with Peter Pan,
and his numerous masks and costumes. He also admitted to finding
pleasure sleeping with young boys and paying out millions of dollars
in settlements to the families of these boys despite being acquitted
by a court on one allegation of sexual molestation.

QUESTION 1) - Which of the above did the House of Representatives
declare a moment of silence for today? (Hint - It wasn't the first
three)

QUESTION 2) - Which of the above's family received a personal note of
condolence from President Obama? (Hint - It wasn't the first three)

Need we say more??

BTW, I did try one of those "as seen on TV" things (bought at
Walgreens). Save-a-Blade (razor blade sharpener). It actually REDUCES

Some of the TV stuff is pure crap, but others are actually good. *I can't
stand the Sham Wow guy, but years ago I did buy some of the same type of
cloth. They really do work and we've used them for spills and drying off the
car.

what they are really dynamite for is picking up oily spills. much more
effective than paper towels.
