Fiberglass Tub/Shower sealant

New construction here. I need some kind of sealant between a one
piece fiberglass tub/shower unit and the drywall edge. I left a 1/4"
gap all the way around to hold the sealant. Would GE Silicone II be a
good choice for this application?

After sealing, I plan to use a self adhesive Fibatape from the
drywall, over the sealant, and to the fiberglass. Is this typically
how this is transistion is done for a drywall alcove?

Any Kitchen/bath caulking will work

My 'helper' always covers this transition strip with a continuous line of
matching 'tile' all around the fixture.. from the TILE (VS FJP or MDF), 2-3"
bullnose BASEBOARD, up around and back down to the other side.

My Kohler tub shower module was nailed to the studs, the drywall
overlapped the fiberglass flange and the gap from fiberglass to
drywall was neatly filled with setting type mud and painted. After
some years it still looks just fine. Keep in mind that silicones can
screw up paint jobs permanently. Use them where their important
properties override the known difficulties.

NO....Pick up a bag of Sheetrock Brand Durabond 90 and read and mix
according to directions on bag....FIRST put duct or painters tape on the
edges of the tub to be taped to just to protect it...Pack the gap with
Durabond and let it set..Carefully scrape it somewhat smooth and srape the
mud off the duct-painters tape with your taping knife... Apply your Fibatape
and coat it with regular joint compound a couple of times letting it dry
between coats..sand and remove duct or painters tape by cutting the tape
where the mud meets the tub and pull it off.. It shouldn't crack and if you
THINK it might apply caulking AFTER you prime the walls as you would with
the door or window trim.. Another tip for ya...Since you will have left over
Durabond it is a GOOD idea to use it to tape your butt seams , fill any
other big gaps or holes , ect and tape any other bad spots......Good Luck
with your project...
