Gas Logs remote doesn't work
------------------------------------- We have a ventless gas log set. It is turned on and off with the remote. About a month ago the remote stopped working. We have reset it, changed both the batteries in the remote and the base and still no luck. We were told to blow out the sensor. Does anyone know anything about this. We now have to turn it on with the base. Combustion appliances include: Gas hot water heater Gas Furnace Gas oven Gas range (cook top) Gas dryer Fuel oil furnace Wood stove Wood fireplace Gas fireplace Gas wall heater Vented Gas Logs Vent free gas logs Automobile in attached garage I'm sure there are several I have left out. -- John Galbreath Jr. Birmingham, Alabama www.FireLogs.com |

Gas Logs remote doesn't work
Also make sure the battery contacts aren't corroded. Finally before giving
up on the remote, the circuit board is probably very simple. Mine was and had a bad solder in the receiver. I took the case off and pressed around while working the remote and found the bad solder. Resoldered it and fixed it. That was 5 years ago and its still working. There should be a switch on the front of the receiver (Off - remote - On) or something like that. Turn it to on. If it does not come on, it is either the wire from the receiver to the valve, or the receiver is bad. Possible bad valve, but not likely. If it does come on, it is within the remote system. I know, but never overlook the obvious, check the direction of the new batteries. Then try to re-code the transmitter to the receiver. If that does not work, it is time for a new remote/receiver. I sell them if you get to that point. -- John Galbreath Jr. Birmingham, Alabama www.FireLogs.com |
