Our LG microwave has 3 safety interlock switches mounted on a
vertical plastic strip which is secured by two screws. The primary switch is
defective and I am trying to figure out how to replace it. All 3 switches
appear to have a plastic locating pin through them and then plastic tabs to
hold them in place. It doesn't look like you can remove one without snapping
the pin or one of the tabs. Does anyone know the trick here? The oven is an
LG model LMS1243SS.

Don't know about that particular model, but I've fixed door switches on
a couple of other microwave ovens. Generally the plastic tab that
holds the switch on the pin is springy. Think of how the tab had to
bend out of the way to install the switch over the pin in the first
place, and bend the tab in the same way by hand until you can pull the
switch off. Or use a screwdriver to pull the tab out of the way.

Don't be afraid of breaking up the old switch to get it out, either.
It's junk, after all.

The switches seem to be a standard size of microswitch. Sometimes they
are two-terminal normally open or normally closed switches, but they
can be replaced with the more common three-terminal SPDT microswitch.
Just use the correct pair of contacts on the new switch to get normally
open or normally closed operation the same as the old switch.
