Default Problem with crickets in the basement

My parents have a home in New York which has had a cricket infestation
in the basement starting about 5-years ago. They have tried those
sticky traps, but they are not enough.
These large and agressive crickets virtually attack you when you go
down there and turn on a light. Other than getting a lizzard or cat,
does anyone have any other recommendations on getting rid of these
things?
Thanks

Boric Acid should work for both.

try to find out the source, all i can tell you is i bought a 40 year
old house 5 years ago
it is near a lake with a very high water table. no water in the
basement but damp. 2 years ago we began getting what
they call camel or cave crickets. as you say they jump all over the
place when go downstairs
well i found the source. there is a sump pit where the sewer line
( with a soil bottom) enters the foundation.
about four feet below the basement floor.i used a whole house
insecticide on the walls of the pit and then
i sprinkled and dusted the area with boric acid.
i also place glue traps around the pit
i re-apply the boric acid and spray on a regular basis (every few
months) and have not seen one camel or cave cricket.
the crickets love damp, dark areas so it should be easy to find the
point of entry. the problem was driving me crazy till i found out
boric acid stops them dead.
