Default paining new stucco patch/repairs

How long should you wait after applying patch work stucco to a block wall
house ? I have patched many small and a few larger areas and am ready to
paint. I read somewhere where stucco takes 28 days to completely cure ?
The stucco patches have been on a week...is it ok to paint over them now ?

Thanks, Tim R

stucco patch is not stucco.

what does it say on the side of the can? is there an 800 # on it? if so,
what did they say when you called it and asked this question?

Bags of mixed or containers from the local diy borg? When I'm happy
with small stucco patches from a container and after a few days I
paint.

no can...80lb bag of stucco mix (quickcrete I think)..bag says 30 days but
that's after two base coats and one finish coat about 3/4 inch total...I am
just spreading top patches about 1/4" thick..with the typical southwest
roughed up texture...so someplace it's even thinner.

seems to me the 30 days is for the complete job...with all three
coats...that makes sense ? Question is what's the problem (how long to wait)
with painting a thin patch layer over a 3/4 inch thick 30 year old stucco
wall ?

Its not moisture that is the issue its the chemical reaction, so wait
30, but isnt that what the BAG says.

The paint would not know whether you have one layer or ten. Mortar and
new plaster take time
to cure completely. It is typical, for all the paint labels I can
recall reading, to wait thirty days before
primiing/painting new concrete.

I have used water based latex (DAP?) stucco patch from the box store.
It is avail. plain or sanded and
can be painted much sooner. Don't know how it is for real stucco, but
works like a charm on our
Florida concrete block/stucco. Even used it like mortar, with concrete
pavers, to fill a defect on
exterior wall where we took out an old, rusty fire extinguisher
cabinet. It shrinks a bit when used
heavilly, but another application after it dried filled in our problem
area.
