plz help? gas shut off accidently (!)

Hi,

I own a restaurant that is adjacent to a day spa. Apparently, the spa
didn't pay their gas bill, so the gas company came out to shut their
gas off, but they accidently shut mine off instead! We're not open
for lunch so didn't know about this until our crew came in at 4.

We called the gas company immediately and were told there's nothing
they can do about it. Service restoration scheduling must be done
before before 3 and their technicians stop working at 5.

They told me that a plumber could turn it back on, so we called one,
and although he was able to manually open the valve, the gas wouldn't
flow. Now he thinks the meter has a lock in it, so we're still stuck?

Does anyone know of a way around this?

Thanks

If you weren't a troll, and assuming your story is true,
and that your restaurant is on a separate meter from
the day care place, you'd be on the phone to your state's
public utility commssion sctreaming bloody blue murder
about the shut off done through the mistake and negligence
of the gas supplier; you'd be on the phone to the consumer
reporter types at each local TV station about the neligent
actions of the gas company, and you would have your lawyer
suing the gas company, today, for negligence and lost profits
from the restaurant for the weekend.

But you are a troll, so none of that will happen.

I beg your pardon?? My PRIORITY is getting my restaurant open before
the reservations start showing up! This just happened a few hours
ago. You suggestions will not help me get my gas turned on tonight!
And I'd prefer to avoid your hysterical woman route if possible...

What planet do you live on, anyway? Where attorneys and government
officials answer their phones after 5 on a Friday night, and the word
REPAIR translates to "be a litigious litigant"?

Call the gas company and them them you smell a leak... There'll be a truck
there in no time.

On the planet where I live, serious people take all actions that provide
leverage when in a situation such as you describe.

You are obviously an ineffectual and non serious person

Enoy your weekend closed, with all that money not coming in,
and all those folks with reservations learing that you are
unreliable.

For a guy with a supposedly SERIOUS crisis at hand, you have an
ungodly amountof ime to spnd replying to Usenet posts.

But since you area troll, that is hardly surpising, is it?

For future reference: The gas company has a secret cutoff on their meters.
Just past the main supply valve, on the way to the meter, is a pipe union.
Inside this union they insert a metal wafer the size of the pipe and screw
the union back together. The presence of this metal condom prevents gas
flow.

To restart the gas, then:
Turn off the valve, open the union, remove the plug, put the union back
together, turn on the valve.

Should be good to go.
