Kenmore washing machine design question

concerning the design of kenmore washing machine (1998 model),
i think i remember that the motor spins one direction during
agitate, then for the drain cycle, reverses the motor direction
to make the pump operate. and, if i remember correctly, the
spin occurs in the same motor direction as the drain cycle.
(please correct me if this is wrong.)

if above is true, what i do not understand, is: when the motor
reverses direction for the drain cycle, what triggers the basket
NOT TO SPIN during the drain cycle? it apparently is not motor
direction, if the drain and spin are in the same direction???

Kenmore washing machine design question

Doesn't this design have a transmission with a couple of solenoid-activated
(and motor motion engaged/disengaged) clutches or do they not do that
anymore?

Kenmore washing machine design question

if you are talking about "wig-wags", no, kenmore quit using them
before 1998.
