Suburban survival skill #204
 
When you buy fluorescent bulbs to replace the incandescent ones in
your lamps and fixtures, keep the box and receipt. They're guaranteed
for years on end--but I've had three or four fail within 18 months.

hey..thanks for a common sense tip...I have been wanting to swich my
lights over..I know I need to...just giving it the proper time and
priority has been my drawback..... any thing i should look for when
buying?

Yes, make sure you like the light they give off. We got a pack from
Lowe's, I think it was, and the light gave off a cold blueish tone--
made the house look like a 1980s science fiction movie! We took them
back for a refund, and bought another pack elsewhere.

It will take a few minutes for the bulbs to warm up, so don't panic if
they seem dim at first. But once they're fired up they should have a
warm tone like an incandescent, just not as harsh.
