Default Chrysler power tailgate problem

I have a 2001 T&C minivan that has a power tailgate that will not
always open. The dealer replaced the lift motor but it still
intermittently will not open. It sounds like ( motors running) it
wants to open but does not. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a lubrication or an alignment problem. The motor is
running & attempting to do its job but more force (torque0 is needed
than the motor can supply.

Has the gate or vehicle ever suffered any damage that might have
tweaked something?

Can the gate be operated by hand? There must be some sort of
equilibrator (spring or gas shock?) that assists in the gate lifting?

cheers
Bob
