J 104 NID (Network Interface Device) Telephone Box ?
Hello:
Have the standard NID (network interface device) telephone box on the outside of my house. But, there is also a smaller J 104 box right next to it. Did a lot of Googling, but cannot find anything on a J 104, or J104, box. Anyone know what it is, and/or a possible link to where they are described, and how used ? Thanks, Bob |
J 104 NID (Network Interface Device) Telephone Box ?
Bob,
Sounds to me like it may be just a 4 connection splice Inside wiring should not be spliced outside without being inside a protected box. The splice will go bad and tape will not keep it dry. So they sometimes used a small plastic box about 4 or 5 inches square with 4 lugs inside to splice out pieces of inside wiring that were too short to reach the new nid when converting over from the old protectors it kept the repairman or installer from having to replace a wire run when it was too short to reach the nids. Open it up and look, if it's on the inside wiring side of the nid,, it's your chuck "Robert11" wrote in message . ..
