garage door weather stripping

I painted my garage door and got all kinds of paint on the outdoor
weather striping. Now the door sticks to the rubber weather stripping
because it has latex paint on it.
I've tried wd40 and vaseline and nothing makes the door not stick to
the weather stripping.

Any other ideas or am I stuck replacing the weather stripping?
Thanks.

I found paint strips off rubber fairly easily with warm water , a bit
of dishwashing soap, and a plastic scrubbing pad.

Try what mark said (soap & water) on a small area. If it doesn't work easily
enough, go to the supermarket or hardware store and get a bottle of
Goo-Gone. Begin with that, which loosens almost any kind of paint, but in my
experience does NOT harm rubber. Then, follow with soap & water. While
you're at the hardware store, check the price of new weather stripping, in
case you get disgusted with all the other ideas.

And next time, let the paint dry longer. If the paint can says it dries to
the touch in 4 hours and "completely cures" in 24 hours (I'm using random
numbers here), never EVER believe that information. What they mean is 24
hours to touch, 4 days to cure completely.

Get the paint off, but silicone spray will help the situation.

I found " Mr. Clean" to work very well in cleaning just about
everythin. It even took the surface rust off of chrome, paint off of
brushes, etc etc etc. Worth a shot.....or paint thinner, find a small
bottle of this in any craft, oil painting, department. :-)

If possible leave the door open while the paint cures.
You could always remove the stop moulding and reinstall it so it does not
press as hard against the door.

I must have cheap latex paint, since soap and warm water cleaned up my
problems. The rubber is flexable and able to break it's bond with the
paint.

But this has been my results.

That sounds right to me. But if you can't get the paint off, use dust
and dirt to make it stop sticking to things. Let as much dust stick
to it as will and then it won't stick to anything else. You can find
a supply in your vacuum cleaner.

Eventually the paint will fall off and it will take the dust with it.

Good tip. The door will probably stick until the paint cures - if
possible, leave open until then. Grease might make it gummy.
