Oh, Oh, Kenmore water softener dying?

Hi,
Anyone familiar with Kenmore softener? Ours(approx 10 years old)
does not work on brine cycle. It does not suck up the brine after
fill cycle. The suction is barely there. All other cycles work OK.
Any suggestion?
TIA,

Check the manual and see how the valve works. Good change it just needs new
seals or O rings. Could also be a clogged intake on the line in the tank.

Hi,
Thanks. I could pick up a gasket/seal kit for venturi housing and main
valve aeembly. Will replace them and see what happens.

Hi,
Finished replacing them. It's back to normal working order. First repair
in 12 years! Cost of parts 60.00CAD = 50.00 USD.

Today the newer models usually won't last that long before repairs are
needed; usually 12 months to 4-6 years. And their replacement parts
prices are very high for what they are. The Kenmore, GE, Whirlpool,
Mortonsalt.com, North Star sold through plumbing/pump suppy houses all
are the same and made by the same company with one exception. The GE
uses a slightly different motor.

Go to www.kenmorewater.com and check out the animations for
troubleshooting. It applies to all the above brands.

Here's some interesting reading about their problems and fixes:
