Long Length 2 1/4" unfinished R.O. Flooring

In the midst of a room addition, I'm attemptin to locate 2 1/4"
unfinished red oak strip flooring in lengths *longer* than those sold
in typical 'bundles'. That is, the 'typical' "20 sq ft" bundle found
at dozens of Web retailers has random length boards, none of which
exceed about 60".

I'm attempting to match the flooring in the rest of the house, where
the maximum strip length is 18 feet.

Anyone know of a "long strip" supplier?

I've never seen 2 1/4" strip longer than eight or nine feet. I don't
think there's any way you'll find 18' strips. You'll probably have to
have something milled.

Even rough construction lumber doesn't come that long without an extra
premium charge and special order.

Regarding, oak flooring, I doubt that there are any trees large enough left
that you could cut an 18' piece of flooring out of. Most lengths are shorter
because of this and also because transportation and handling of 18' lengths
would be more difficult, expensive and result in handling damage.

There are real stores out there, not just web retailers. try one in your
area. You will probably have a hard time finding 18' lengths though, but
can probably do better than 5'.
