Laminate flooring - what to do with stairs
 

I'm considering laying some laminate flooring in my living room, hall,
and landing at the bottom of the stairs. My questions is - what do I
do with the stairs? Can you buy maple stuff to put on stairs? I
assume you can't just use the laminate. Can someone show me a website
of what can be done - or maybe a description.

I would carpet the stairs, it's much safer than a slippery wood floor.
I doubt laminate would work at all, zillions of edges to deal with.

If you are buying the cheap stuff at the dollar store, you won't find the
trim. The better brands have what you need. I have a split entry and used
a marble looking block on the landing. Easiest is when the stairs are
closed on both ends so all you have to do is the tread and riser.

I took out my carpet as it was becoming unsafe as it wore. No big deal with
laminate. It works well in spite of your doubt. True that some stairs may
have a lot of edges, mine didn't.

I am considering to replace my carpet stair with a quality laiminate stair
for a while.
My only concern is the laiminate nose length, usually 1/2" or less. I need
to cut my
current 1" nose to install the laminate. As my builder only satisfied the
minimum
county code requirement: 9" tread + 1" nose, I can't lose that half inche of
nose
length.

So is there any way that I can get a 1" laminate nose, or else a way to keep
my
tread depth at 10"?

BTW, that one step tread with nose from Wilsonart is really nice. I would
like to
install that I can solve the nose problem.
