Pilot light thermocouples?

No and No. Most people can do so without any instructions. Just make
sure the end is in the flame. Normally you just put the new on in where the
old one was.

I do suggest that you carefully note the position of the old one before
removing it. No special tools needed and you don't need to shut off the gas
to do it.

And make sure the contact is clean B4 you screw it into gas valve.
