It has been awhile, needed a place to vent and this is the best I know.
Also, need the great positive feedback this group always gives! (LOL)
I have been a lurker for quite awhile but have a situation I think
should be addressed and at least known about in the community. We all
know (or should if you have half a brain) that SEDA is a failure and
Forrest Wright HAS to be the reincanation of the other Forrest (Gump).
Not only the MGM Grand they are just finishing up without any
committment as to an attraction to get people here except for a golf
course which is over the river and through the woods, but I don't think
half the community knows of the wonderful world of Walgreens who
received appx $2 million dollars to come here to offer $8 an hour
jobs. Not only did the Crimes Daily report that the starting pay was
to be above the actual salary offered to employees AFTER the money was
given to Walgreens, I have a friend who works there and the promise of
"good benefits" turned into catastrophic health insurance with an
unusually high deductible only through BCBS. They did provide a second
option with United Health Care(with very few providers in the area) for
unspecified "full" (which by the way; had just signed a contract with
WHI for all their Medicare patients)but the catch was the premium was
so high that it would eat appx 30% of each paycheck for full coverage.
And to top it all off, the new hires are required to go through a 2
week "training" period for an $8 hour job with NO PAY.

Well, the people who get to sell a piece of land worth $200,000 for
$200,000,000 to be used as an industrial park sure seem to do ok. But
then I guess that's the reason for the whole charade.

Not everybody looses, just the citizens.
