Backflow Valves

Does anyone have experience using the J.R. Smith Manufacturing "Flood-Gate"
backflow valve. What was the cost of installation? Any other "better" ways
of backflow sewer control that anyone could recommend would be appreciated.
Thx.

The technical name is "Backwater Valve". Do a GOOGLE on that.
There are many mfr's.

Biggest part of install cost is the excavation.
Many cities will only allow install outside the building.
Costs will vary all over the lot depending on the conditions
and on labor costs locally. Get quotes from local contractors.

Be wary of any device which is touted as blocking flood
water from coming up, out of floor drains (different from
backwater valve). These devices can put tremendous lifting
forces on basement slabs if any leakage occurs under slab.
