Travertine Question
 

We put in a travertine floor about a year ago. Now, there are small bubbles
or voids that are breaking, and leaving a hole in the floor.

Is there a product or something that I can fill these with so they will be
flush with the floor. I thought of JB Weld, but the floor is a tan color.
Do they make a tan JB Weld?

Travertine is a very porous stone. They fill the voids if it's going
to be used for flooring, otherwise it's just a dirt vacuum.

You'll have to experiment, but the best way to fill those voids is to
use some crushed up travertine dust mixed with clear epoxy.
Application is done with a plastic auto body filler spreader - neatly!
The wet sand the patch until the finish approximates the existing tile
finish. You may have to put a sealer on the whole floor to make the
finish uniform.

You make no mention of how extensive the problem is but it would appear
that the stone is "spalling" (google it) due most likely to improper
installation technique and/ or setting materials. There are filler
products (epoxys) available for stone such as are made by Akemi.
Contact a local cermaic/stone flooring supply.

Grout that they use for floor tile..Thats how the floor installer did in our
new house. Also in our walk-in shower-tumbled travertine tile floor and
walls.
Comes in nearly every color so you can probably match your travertine as
close as you'd like.
