Self Adhesive Vinyl Tile
Are there any problems to be aware of when putting down SAVT over
existing sheet vinyl? Any additional prep needed, suggestions, tips??? |
Just clean the existing tile real good. IMO, SAVT sticks best to a
smooth, clean surface. |
You will need to "roughen" the surface and also make sure it is
perfectly clean. "Rougheners or liquid sanders" are available at places like Lowes. |

Pull out the fridge and give it a try first, but laying a few tile on your existing vinyl before doing the whole room. Let it sit overnight and see if it sticks okay. |

If the existing vinyl has a texture to it, it will telegraph through to the new tiles. You can remedy that by using a floo rlevelling compound which is essentially auto body putty that you trowel and smooth onto the old tiles prior to putting on the new. |
