Old cracking caulk?
In a place that has old cracking caulk, in say the bathroom,
is it advisable to put new caulk over the old cracking caulk, or must the old cracking caulk first be removed? If it is the latter, what can it be removed with, besides scraping with a flathead screwdriver? Is there a good chemical you can use for that? == "Money will not make you happy, and happy will not make you money." -- Groucho Marx |

Use a hair dryer or heat gun to soften it up and a putty knive to pull it out. Yes, they do make chemicals for it, but I never use them. |

There is a chemical, but it just softens the caulk; you still have to remove it with something. Anne |
