Insurance-Wood Stove vs Pellet Stove
Hi, I hoping that someone would know the advantages or disadvantages for
insurance purposes between having a wood stove or a pellet stove. Would having a pellet stove cause any problems for getting house insurance? Or would anyone know where to look? thanks a bunch! |

Hi, I hoping that someone would know the advantages or disadvantages for insurance purposes between having a wood stove or a pellet stove. Would having a pellet stove cause any problems for getting house insurance? Or would anyone know where to look? You must ask an insurance agent -- bearing in mind that few know much about wood stoves, but some jurisdictions provide helpful information via the building code. (In Ontario Canada, the only parts of the building code that are enforced retroactively are those concerning solid-fuel heaters.) The main problem with pellet stoves is that if the electricity fails (when in some places you really want a wood stove) the pellet stove stops working correctly. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |
