Electric Log Splitters

I love a good wood fire in the fireplace on a cold night, and I have
friends with plenty of dead trees for me to chop down. So, I have been
enjoying my macho sessions of chopping wood in the back yard for a
while.

Shortly, I realized that my daily use of firewood was requiring a lot
of chopping and it takes some time to do, so I began searching for a
log splitter. The big 17-ton unit at Lowes costs $1500 and you tow it
behind a truck. After considering this for a while, I decided to keep
chopping by hand.

I got an email from the company that made my great little garden
tiller, Mantis, and they now make a wood splitter, too. I was
immediately worried that a little electric splitter couldn't do the
job. That worry disappeared as soon as I started splitting with the
Mantis SwiftSplit. I was impressed.

Since I got the SwiftSplit this week, I have seen several other
electric splitters available. Chances are good that they all do a
fairly good job. They are quiet and take less maintenance than a
gas-engined splitter, and are easier to store. I recommend considering
an electric splitter for homeowners.

My fire last night was roaring and crackling and smelling good and
heating the living room nicely. We really enjoy an evening in front of
the fireplace.
