The term "flipping" means fraud and a rip-off by
unscrupulous people who take advantage of naive buyers.
They do cheap, cosmetic repairs and are greedy enough to
manage to convince realtors and buyers that they're getting
what they're spending for, when, in fact, they're being
ripped off.

Simply buying a bad property at a low price, doing a
legitimate rehab, and reselling at its value is not
"flipping".

It is rehabbing and reselling in a legitimate way!

Alan

OK, so now we know YOUR definition of flipping. However, since many
SANE people refer to legitimate rehabilitation and reselling as
flipping, we know that the practice is often good for the neighborhood
and a respectable practice.

Well, EVERY time I've heard the term "flipping" used in
public, especially by the media, it has been my definition.

Please be smart enough NOT to call what you do "flipping"
since MANY people will think you are being a greedy jerk.

Call it "rehabbing" or "turning over" or whatever your brain
can come up with. But if you call it "flipping" you'll have
to reap the consequences of what that word means to most
people!

Sheesh!

Flipping a house is pointless.
Flipping a driver can get you hurt.

I am aware of the definition that you are restricting yourself to. I
have heard it, too. However, consider that your experiences are not
everyone's experience.

I refer you to look up flipping on wikipedia.org, and it largely
agrees with you, but cast an eye at the section entitled "Positive
effects of real estate flipping".

Since I find your alternative wording for positive flipping to be
clunky and cumbersome, I'll stick with flipping. The term is not
strictly defined at the moment, so maybe I can influence its future
meaning.

That's not something I would lose sleep over.

Learn to deal with the language, and figure out something
better to call what you do, so that you can reap the
benefits of what you are doing.

Language is more flexible than you are. Learn to deal with people who
won't do what you want them to do.

Why can't you understand that?

I understand it. I just don't accept it.

Or, are you just terminally stubborn?

HAHAHA!! That is truly hilarious, coming from you. Time to buy a
mirror, Mr. Mule.

Flipping means to do a half-a**ed cosmetic job to make a place look
nice and sell for a big profit. Nothing positive about it!!
