Had several clients who bought DR Horton Homes in Minnesota. They were
good quality and were there for them throughout the one year repair
period. They also had some sweet incentives such as if you use their
finanicing, they will pay all closing costs.

All builders should be carefully researched. I would be very surprised
if you don't find complaints or even lawsuits involving this builder,
in the area you plan on buying. I know I've read of lawsuits and
complaints against this builder in TX, for starters. Don't be too
quick to decide these were all "isolated incidents," either. Where
there's smoke, there's fire. Even if you start out ok, if the builder
changes supervisors during construction of your house, things could go
downhill. Keep on top of it, and get a good inspector there during
construction, preferably. Warranties are a joke. That's what
construction defect cases are made of--warranties that were not
honored. Protect yourself before you buy, don't assume you can
afterwards.

Good luck.

We own a DR Horton home in the Houston area. We couldn't have been more
pleased. As far as builders in our area they offered more flexibility than
any other of the builders we considered. We made some changes, but most of
the builders around here seem to have become very rigid and can't tolerate
any changes at all. Of course you do pay extra for them g

Also they stand behind their homes. We had a minor roof problem when our
home was a little over five years old (currently about 5-1/2 years old).
They fixed it with absolutely no charge to us.

As far the construction of the home, the closing, final walk-through we were
again pleased with DR Horton.
