non vented gas logs

I have non vented gas logs but despite a "break in" period and trying
to get the dust away from the logs they continue to smell. Are these
things to sensitive to even use? Does anyone have a solution to using
these not smell without basically opening all the windows?

You can open your vent during the first five minutes or so and this should
reduce the smell a good bit. Our ventless logs really stank for a month or
so and then got better.
