How much should it cost for an electrician to add an electrical outlet ?

How much should it cost for an electrician to add an electrical outlet
about 2 feet away from the electical panel in my basement.
When I called to ask how much it was initially I could have sworn they
said about $90. Then I receive a bill for $160.
The job took about 30 minutes.

Thanks for any help.....

They must have charged you a call charge, that is: for the time to get to
the job site from wherever their shop is setup. Ask for itemization on the
bill, see if that sheds any light on it. 2 feet away sounds extra easy,
but they may have something to say about how difficult is was to get
through a concrete wall or something. Plus there is always some material
cost. I'd say maybe $25 in your case.

Cheers!
